Heartbreaking...isn't "time" a strange thing...if only we could move freely through it in either direction...

I just want to reach out & pet her. This is very sweet! ...mixed with sadness, of course. What is the mark on Maansi's trunk?

Life can be harsh. And yet fruitful at the same time. May the new life prosper.

shes cute, it hurts me when you cant help an animal....but great photo, its eye opening. When people dont see things like that they tend to forget about them.

hi patty, those marks have a long story, will write about it in another post. but in short, the elephant calfs are always seperated from its mother after a certain age in order to train it for camp use. so this pic was shot after a few days of that, now that she being caged, hurt herself by trying to break the wooden cage open ... but the wounds are only bruises, heals very quick. but wont write about the just of the whole act here ...

i hope, one day you could see and spend time and play with these awesome fellas to know the amazing feel that is there to it ... take care patty !

rauf, you are pretty much right, but i wonder how human life would be without that ? ... may be it all started with humans delivering a helpless baby ? ...

hi wendy eileen, i particularly have no reason why i feel sad for maansi but having spent so much time with her, thats the only emotion that i have to spare. i really hope that someday you could spend time with these gorgeous and intelligent creatures to experience the magic of such relationship ... take care !

Wildpic - I did not exactly mean that we "should" move through time, but to share that this type of loss makes me aware of time as an entity outside of ourselves...one moment we are here, the next we are not...the only connection being an invisible strand conisting of moments...and if we could move along this strand, we could touch what was but is no longer. The past, and everything in it, is still there, it does not cease to exist because we have gone beyond it...but knowing it exists does nothing to help us visit it...and sometimes I know I would like to...

Peace & hugs

Mansi=plucked flower
Manasi= mental adoration
Manasa=conceived in the mind.
