numbers in red ...

i'm writing a book. i've got the page numbers done ...
there is safety in numbers ...
the whole is more than the sum of its parts ...

then ...
( number of fruits per tree ) X ( number of fruiting trees ) = how many number of new fruiting trees ?
can there be safety in numbers ? ...

everything can't be quantified Suresh, there is always an element of uncertainty

That was a darn interesting piece of mathematics wildpic! I have a wide grin on my face.
I agree with Rauf..somethings cannot be calculated or measured.

PS: Are u really writing a book? yes? On what?

dear gwen, this is an evergreen shola forest small tree species called "baccuria koutralansis" and they fruit in great numbers but not many trees are found.
they are very pretty during fruiting, the whole of the tree trunk's filled with fruits highly rich in vitamin "C". a great feast for porcupines, bears, civets etc.

it is a good start indeed gwen, but to where ? is a question only "baccuria" can answer ... !!!

raufff ... i do totally agree that everything cant be quantified, but this tree should have some rough maths to calculate as to where it wants to go, so that it can decide its numbers to start with.

element of uncertainity is a zero that lurks to be multiplyed with, which would get the whole sum amount to "zero" at any given point .... but we all live with that zero and most dont even approve of it ... happiness comes when we make friends with that "zero" , dont we rauf ?

dear e2d, am glad that numbers and maths can bring out a grin !!
its easy to understand the sum total of any problem, but the interactions that happen inbetween is so facinating and only that can bring clarity to any given "issue".

i sincerely beleive all problems seek for a rest in happiness, however long the calculations go !!!

p.s. oh yes am writing a book and this blog is a testimony to that isn't it ?

Suresh i avoid talking about certain subjects which will get me into trouble. Evolution for instance, we humans are evolved to believe in God and create religions. This gets me into trouble. We have god spot in our brains. This god spot is actually a self destruct button. i think we are designed to kill each other in a few thousand years.

Virus and bacteria is not good for mathematicians. they get into trouble. Calculators computers would explode. Amount of life in one square inch in a forest is a nightmare.

the tree will have specific number of fruits. but the next season would be different.
